Having both Neurostar® and CloudTMS devices in our offices, as well as offering both on and off-label protocols, since 2020, we have been a Valley leader in providing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services.
TMS is an FDA-approved, non-invasive medical procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to treat various neurological and psychiatric disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
During a TMS session, you will sit in a chair with a coil placed against your scalp. The coil produces a magnetic field that passes through your skull and stimulates nerve cells in the targeted region of the brain. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia or sedation.
A TMS session typically lasts 18-30 minutes and is usually administered daily or several times a week, depending on the condition being treated. The number of sessions required varies depending on the individual and the severity of the condition. Generally speaking, there are 36 sessions that are needed to treat Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) – 5 days a week for 6 weeks, then 6 sessions tapered off.
The most common side effects of TMS are mild to moderate scalp discomfort or headache, which typically go away within a few sessions.
After the treatment course, many of our patients have been able to either reduce or even eliminate their need for medication. Results vary, however we have many examples of these success stories that our providers and clients can attest to.
Most commercial insurances cover this treatment and before we would get therapy started, we would do a benefit investigation to let you know exactly how much this therapy would cost you through your insurance, if anything.
